Well, it's time to upgrade my nephew's P3-800. I was looking at switching him over to an Athlon XP.

I was thinking about getting him a nForce board w/ OB graphics. His current rig has a GeForce2MX 400 w/ 32 megs.

My question is this; would I get better video with the dual channel DDR (running memory at 226 mHz FSB speed) than using the separate GF2MX card with 166 mHz SDRAM?

PIII 800 is fast enough, buy him a video card if he wants better gaming, and save your money for his NEXT upgrade.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

I agree with Crash, but the GF2MX he has right now would be faster than an nForce's.

Well, let me use what you mentioned was one of your favorite games; Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

It plays fine on his machine (though there is a conflict between it and Logitech mouseware). But, if you read the specs, the recommended system is a PIII-700. That's only 100 MHz away. And, as most of us know, the recommended system specs are really the minimum specs to run the game well.

if you don't want the video get the 415D chipset instead... plus if you go with the onboard video you will see a difference of about 800 (when I tested it)points in 3dmark2001. I scored 2555 with dual channel enabled and about 1700 without. I was using an XP1800+ 512mb DDR and 2x256mb DDR.
