Nope, it was real. Only broke out on a few realms, since a Hunter's
pet had to be infected and (intentionally?) set loose in the general
population. Also, I think it's been hotfixed.

It wasn't a hunter's pet, as I understand it. It was one of the
"immortal" pets, like a parrot.
