I guess my poor ranger will never find out what finally becomes of the land of Tyria..... and it's mainly because he doesn't care.

For some reason I just can't seem to find a reason to play this game anymore. I'm on Ring of Fire and I've tried it a few times with henchmen and gotten close but it takes too long and I have absolutly no motivation to keep playing. I'm level 20, I have max armor, a max damage weapon and most if the elites and skills I wanted. Please someone tell me why I should keep playing? Don't say the story because we all know that's not GW's strong point. I suppose I could farm for a Sup Vigor but I need a little more out of a game then that to keep playing. I'm not much for PvP so there is nothing going for me there.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this game. I got a lot of good hours out of it. But for the life of me I can't force myself to finish it. The only other game I bought and never finished was Hitman Contracts and I can't seem to remember why......... anyway, if someone can give me a reason to keep playing GW then let me know. If not I'm going to install Star Wars KotOR and give that a try.

Oh yeah, incidentily this is my first post. I'm looking forward to some good discussions on these forums.

I stopped playing because I ran out of time due to all my other games...

Ironically, as soon as I stopped playing, I became unaddicted...?_?

I'll start playing again next summer when I have excess time on my hands.

Guild Wars got really old and very repetitive. I have been playing off and on for some time. I really don't have much fun playing PVP at all, if I want to kill people online I'll play some FPS'.

gw was fun till lvl 20... took bout 10 hours.. once 20 theres literally nothing to do but farm, i also quit in the ring of fire or whatever, fighting 5 or 6 lvl 20 scorpions that pop up from underground every 10 seconds is rediculously boring. the pvp is solid but not as fun as i wished, WoW pvp is just as fun and GW is BASED on the pvp, its the goddamn selling point of the game (with the acception of the no monthly fees) i wouldnt even consider gw an mmo, sure the towns are pretty big but whenever u go into battle zones u have to take a party or henchmen, with henchmen its a singleplayer game that connects to the net to send ur xp. sure gw is a pretty fun game with 4 or 5 friends that wanna dedicate a weekend to playing.. but before i end my rant i must admit, the instances or whatever there called were pretty fun and the bosses looked badass. ENEMYS ARE VERY SIMILAR AND THERES TOO MANY.

I am the leader of a Guild and have been since May 2005. I got 4 characters to the end of the game, which was increasingly boring, then to find out i didnt want those characters anymore and deleted them to make way for a PVP characters.

I dont play GW's for the RP aspect anymore, however the PVP is awesome and Guild Battles rule.

If you ever did want to play Guild Wars again, let me know and you can join my guild and experience Guild Battles and other PVP areas.

Also Chapter 2 comes out soon and that promises 2 new professions, guild alliances, new story line etc.......cant wait

Sadly I'm up there with the OP.
I haven't really played GW in months. I only got one char to lvl 20 before I just got burned out on the same boring fights. There's not enough stuff to keep you interested. No side things.
I tried a trial of Warcraft and was super impressed by all the little side quests and skills you could pick up. The GW developers have specifically said that they're not interested in adding things like that to their game. Sad. I just quit playing.
I don't think I'm really all that pumped up for the expansion either. An overpowered assassin class. That's not fun.
I guess GW really isn't a game for anyone who wants an RPG. It's just a PVP game. I never got into PVP because I always got my butt handed to me and then insulted about how I'd lost. That's not fun either. I've got better things to do, better games to play. If I want PVP I'll play UT2004. :)

you do have apoint...but it will get better and yes the RP aspect is going downhill....

yeah the assasin is rediculously over powered but they are quite easy to beat........i still stand unbeaten by an assasin

I bought the game but I could not get into it at all, it was alot more fun reading the forums about oblivion or vanguard than actually playing the game.

I think grinding to rank 14 in WoW tainted my soul when it comes to rpgs =(

I came to this point extremly early on in my game. I found the game to be incredibly pointless and boring. I really wanted to give WoW a shot but chose not to.

Man how I miss game like Diablo II :(

Diablo wasn't a very good rpg either, but it was hours and hours of fun. I loved the collecting to get gems, the runewords. Ahh... What a game.
I tried WOW for 10 days and it was really fun, but I just can't see the fun in paying $50 for a game and then paying another $15 every month.
I know, what a cheapskate, right? Well, yeah, but I also don't really have a ton of time for playing games. I'm not one to sit on any game for more than a couple hours a week. I won't pay a monthly fee for that.
I played the Auto Assault Beta this last weekend and there's a lot to like there, too. It's a lot like WOW with cars. A little more action based, which I enjoyed. Again, there's a monthly fee, so I won't be playing it anymore either.
Anyway, I'll try out Factions this weekend, but it needs to be dang impressive or I'm not getting it. I'll probably sell my GW account and but Oblivion.

yea so i finally beat gw, the second i beat the game i quit, havnt played since (about a month) id play it again if there were more rewards, i was playing on my 20 mage before i quit and 6 level 11 imps killed me, i was pissed. i have a fire mage so i can do area damage, but they took forever to kill, theres very little payoff when ur lvl 20, also the fact that the weapons dont have a level requirement, and any class can weild them. itd be so much better if it was like WOW with weapons, certain levels to use them, itd make me want to get a lvl 18 warrior to use a fiery dragon sword. im gonna beta factions (or did it just pass?) if it sucks, then gw is done with. theres almost no replay value and it is literally painful to play the desert part of the game (after the desert i found myself playing 8-10 hour days just to play the harder missions, which were quite fun...)

i was with u about the p2p wow, but wow literally takes thousands of hours to do everything, its never really beat, theres too much to do, its worth the 15 a month... but at about lvl 33 i found myself bored of the "help the baker find his egg!" quests... if there were more instances closer together at lower levels id probably be playing that instead of ranting on a forum... but wow is probably one of the best thought out MMO's ive ever played, GW was cool with the guild battles but since wow has battleground gw is pretty much pointless to play... not to meantion 1 level in wow means a LOT in pvp, a lvl 59 and 60 same class/stats fighting, the 60 will win everytime, which IMO makes it worth working so hard to get 60, so that when ur 60, its actually cool when u go into a n00b area and can just agro it all without taking damage (gw had a lot of backtracking towards the end, and i found myself dying trying to run through a lvl 11 zone)... and that is my 18.5 cents

It's not really so much the amount of money, but rather the principle of the matter. 15 dollars can get you a month of broadband internet in some places, I would never pay that much for a game. Now to be fair, I've never ever played WoW. I would probably give the 10 day trial a try if I had a credit card. Unless I was really impressed, I would not continue beyond that point.

I just wanted to put something that I actually liked about GW, other than the lack of a monthly fee. I really like the skill system. It's nice that the fireball you learn at the beginning of the game is still useful at the end. WOW you pay to learn the same skill, just beefier, five times. What a crock.
And part of it is the principle of paying money out my nose just to play a game. Warcraft is cleaning up. I can't believe that there are 6million people willing to pay them every month. Kind of sad, really.
I still haven't beaten GW, and probably never will. I can't get excited about a game where being the highest level is expected and not rewarded in the least. Also, your character is just like all the others of the same class. It's frustrating that you can really be unique. Only certain skill combinations are really worth using and that's it. If you try anything new you get smoked.
I don't like the lack of weapon reqs either. It's lame to see a lvl 3 kid in ascalon running around with a chaos axe. Lame-o.

I know i'm sounding like a cheapskate  , but if any of you aren't evergoing to play again can i have your account???

Reply to scotto3394

Yeah, you do sound like a cheapskate, but just a little :D.
No, really, I'm hanging on to it to see what new developments come out of it. You can get one off the ol' eBay for ~$20 though.

i agree with everyone here
i tried the wow trial and loved it, then bought guild wars with eye of the north and was bored the first day
there really is no point to this game
the missions are all the same
it doesnt even feel like an mmo
even in eye of the north, its the same old junk
i can't even seem to find a decent weapon
the monster drops are all ****
and what's with no armor drops??
it has me thinking why is this game so popular?
im not for pvp because that's why call of duty 5 and every other game like that was made
guild wars to me is baisically:
you and a party of bots running through countless enemies for no reward and with no meaningful story

i bought the game and was expecting a WoW like experience
what i got instead was diablo 1 on tranqulisers
this game is painful to play
and not fun
there needs to be a diablo 3
the end.

Reply to ilovemedusa

oh and also, i got to lvl 20 in kryta which made playing more even pointless

the truth is i could never really get into the game :\
something just doesn't work that well in it and ruins the whole game
