No beep from PC speaker on boot up

I have a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE motherboard but although my PC boots up fine, I don't get a beep from the PC speaker. Can anyone tell me why? It's not broken - I've checked by making it beep in MS DOS

  1. Maybe you plugged the speaker's connector backward?

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
  2. Some BIOSs have a "disable pc speaker" option. Have a look see.

  3. I have a GA-7VRX and the same thing happens with mine. Boots up fine but no beep. It beeps at other times, just not at boot-up. I've checked the speaker and plugged it in both ways. I'll be interested to see if anyone else has had this problem. :)

  4. Hi,
I contacted Gigabyte and they said that it was normal for some of their boards to not beep on startup.
