Ok guys. I want to know if its just me or if anyone else has this problem. I close all my processes running in the background and I launch Command & Conquer Zero Hour. I choose Skirmish mode and i choose to play against 3 AI teams. When I get about 10mins into the game it starts to freeze and lag. Going about 1 frame per second. Anybody know why and what I can do to fix this problem. I think its the way the game was made. Even if I upgrade I feel like nothing can handle this game. Here are my specs:
Intel P4 HT 3.0GHz
i925x Board
1GB Ram
Radeon X700 Pro 128MB
80GB SATA Hardrive 7200rpm
I have noticed this happens on some maps but not others. I don’t usually have a problem playing up to 7 cpus at once but that soon changes aver LAN. I hate to say this but C&C Generals seems to be a poorly developed game with a lot of bugs!
Thats amazing, i can't even dream of playing more than 5 at a time. Over lan doesn't matter cause i plan to get Gigabit Ethernet soon. But getting the game to run smooth with alot of players is what i'm after first. What are ur specs??? If u can play 7 then i wanna know what u are using. And are we talking about Zero Hour? I think I just might do a whole makeover of my system. Get 2 Raptor Hard drives in RAID, a 7800GT, and 3 GIGs RAM, and if that don't work, then the hell with EA and Generals. Though Battlefield 2 is my favorite game and not too buggy as Generals.
My specs are pretty average! Athlon XP 64 3200, 1GB DDR 400, GeForce 6200 GFX.
Im assuming that you have got all of the latest patches for the game and drivers for your gfx card?
As for the make over, it probably would help but you shouldn’t have to do that as the game is years old and does not have high spec requirements. Which is why i consider it to be a poorly made game. Personally i would not upgrade for the sake of this game!
As for the Ethernet, i have gigabit Ethernet and it has nothing to do with it. LAN games require almost no bandwidth at all, it just comes down to a poor game. If i play it against 4 ppl over LAN the game slows to a crawl and practically stops if i add a cpu to the game.
well i had the feeling from the beginning that it wasn't my system and it was the game itself. Do you think EA will let out another patch fixing this problem or will they say "nahhh we'll stick to our newer games". Wow are you using AGP or PCI-E? I built a system for my bro with a Radeon AGP 9800Pro 8x and his system plays Zero Hour smoother than mine. I read somewhere that Zero Hour played better on an AGP, i wonder why.
I very much doubt that EA will release any patches now since the game is couple of years old. I am using AGP, i remember trying to get it to work on another gfx card which i had to reduce to 4X before it run!
I have never had so many problems with another game before!
