Ever since the first Berserker calmly walked through that shield bearing
Paladin to calmly Double Frost the Paladin's supporting realm mates, the
players of DAoC have been hollering about implementing collisions to
allow a player to truly block an attacker.

Now, based on the article here:

http://www.mmorpg.com/newsRoom.cfm [...] 0826091914
"Mythic Inks a Deal with AGEIA"

it is certainly seems like a possibility.

Here I sit, coming back to DAoC after over a year, returning to Ector, a
Classic server, and I STILL wish for collisions.

I for one hope this finally becomes a reality.

Personally, I think that albs deserve to be double-frosted to death.
Why, you ask? Just for being albs is reason enough but a "thinning of the
herd" would be a good idea. There are way too many of them.

You must be a "Stinky Hibbie" to take such a turn on a possibly game
altering event. It is not about one realm over another. It would put
more value on everyone's tanks. My story was nothing more than an example.

Forgive me for trying to start an intelligent conversation about.

No, I am a mid.
With a name like ModernCelt you seem to be a hib in real life!

Oh, and this is Usenet. No intelligent conversations allowed.
No, wait, I am thinking of the VN boards. You may carry on.

This was a problem in other games, larger toons would block entry ways into
dungeons, rooms etc so people could not pass, restricting access to parts of
the game.

Sometimes people would 2 box, and park a ogre or something like that in a
door way, and locking their main in the room to clean up and xp grind, or
farm unique items.

So I like the fact there is no character collisions in DAoC.

By familial origins that is so, though you do not account for the Welsh
blood, Celts to the core as well.

And that is a truism if I have ever heard one.

So nice to be welcomed back.

In PvE I have to agree, it is in RvR that it is missing. There are many
things they have implemented that work only in PvE or RvR, perhaps this
is one of them.

It would be interesting to see if they could do it. I'm not sure how it
would truely affect things (Except in your scenario).

I really need to re-activate my account, I keep putting it off for some
reason or another.. I sure do miss that game.

Very true, and I think it would affect more than that, but then it is a
wait and see type thing.

I just reactivated mine. Several friends and I had explored Horizons
for a while, then off to EQ2 and a little WoW. None of them have really
held our attention. We missed the RvR of DAoC, but despised the damage
that ToA did. We recently discovered the Classic servers and its
anti-buffbot code as well as lack of ToA and are giving it another go.

Come, join us on Ector, we have not gone far yet, early to mid teens so
far, but we are having fun again. We have not yet created a guild, but
that will be soon. Look for Taelesin, Ulgarr, Ulang, Raythe, Grummus,
Finduilas, Kaydence, Elwain. There are a few others, whose names I do
not recall at the moment.

I just started back up on DAoC too, and playing Ector also.

Seems that Catacombs instances + graphics upgrade along with the
Classic server type has done some good for Mythic and is bringing
people back.

Still seems that WoW is the big monster of a game, though. It's a
shame because, as much as I did have some fun with WoW, both EQ2 and
DAOC are better games.

My impression of why WoW seems to be the monster, is likely because it
is easy. One of the fellows who came to DAoC with us had not played it
before, we knew him from old in EQ1. He is enjoying himself, but having
been spoiled by both EQ2 and WoW, is not sure he likes the difficulty level.

We have decided that DAoC is harder, even at the lower levels (most of
us have just reached 20 or so), but most of us enjoy the challenge. We
have to pick our fights, we have to have a strategy and we have to move
carefully. That is one of the things that I have always liked about
DAoC, no spoon.
