As I posted earlier, I'm building a computer to do some number crunching for my research. But I figured I'd seek some advice from you guys (since, while I can read, I don't have a lot of practical experience with benchmarking and what they mean). I've narrowed it down to two possible configurations:
1) a EPOX-4SDA+ with 1 GB of Corsair PC2700 (and a slot left open)
or
2) an Abit TH7II with 1 GB PC800 (4 256 MB RIMMs--no slots open!)
I'll also be adding one of the WD1000D HDD (with the 8MB of cache). Which of these scenarios is going to serve me best? Or should I wait until the 533MHz bus comes out and make the decision then? I've seen SO many people quote that RDRAM is as cheap as DDR... which is true for everything but the larger DIMMs (>512 EACH). Any recommendations/comments? All help is greatly appreciated...
