I'm new to XP. I've set up accounts for each of my family
members (3). I have selected admin (1) on mine and
limited on all others. Here's the question:

If I install programs, how do I give other users access?
Also, can other users install programs to their specific
instance?

Thanks,

JK

Hi there...
You can share resources with the other users.
If there are programs they want to access from their accounts...you as
admin can go into the Program Files Folder.
Right click on the program you want to share.
Click Properties.
Click on the Sharing Tab.
The rest is pretty much self explanatory.
(You'll see if you click on the underlined link for the Shared Documents
Folder...this will open and you can drag the program folder to this
folder for the other users to have access to that particular program).
Take Care...

Thanks Dee!!!

I was looking at the file level and not the folder and
was not seeing the tab.

Thanks again,

JK in Col.

most programs can be accessed by non-admin users, even when only the admin
has installed the software on the computer. on the other hand, limited
users can't install applications nor are allowed to make system changes.

hope this helps.
