Is there any problem leaving it plugged in to the AC outlet and then just
plugging it into the computer when needed???

No. But the AC adapter can get warm to the touch. Do so
at your own discretion.

None at all, we've got several kicking around the house that are
plugged in 24x7 and rarely used. They'll waste a bit of power, but
that's not the end of the world.
