hey all, I just upgraded my pc with a enermax 350w psu, I'm
running a msi 645 ultra mobo w/256mb pc2100 on boot my bios
is slow and delayed but it will boot should I flash the bios
to a newer version or return the psu for something different. thanks for any help.

Check your bios version and memory timings before flashing. You may already have the latest version. The new power supply shouldn't affect bios performance. I run conservative memory timings with 4:5 ratio and 133 cpu fsb for best overall performance. Your power supply should work fine if your 5 volt readings are at least 4.85 under load.

Yerp... when you have a dodgy PSU you tend to get the following symptoms:

1. computer fails to start up at all
2. smokey smell comming from psu
3. spontaneous reboots, typically during cpu/graphics intensive tasks.
4. audible fan speed slowdows with cpu under load.
5. fluctuating or dipping voltages
