I know thats not a word but whatever!

Well I went from OnBoard sound to a SB Live! 24Bit sound card.... now when I load up BF2 it loads faster and runs smoother. But the in game sound is different. When playing singleplayer and the other soldiers talk over the mic it does not sound right.. it has static and kinda fades in and out when they talk.

I have it set to HARDWARE in the options and have tried medium quality and high quality.. still does the same thing... here is the sound card I have.

SB Live! 24Bit

Please help, I am running version 1.0 of BF2

And you can see my specs in my SIG

Try another sound card first of all, see if that helps any. I've heard other issues with this sound card on bf2 when im playing. Also, Try updating the game, there may be some sound fixes in there as well.

What is your speaker set up?

I found the same if I have accidentally switched from stereo speakers to quadraphonic/4.1 .

First off, upgrade your BF2 to 1.22 or atleast 1.21. The new patches include more maps, weapons, stability fixes and gameplay balances. Second, check your sound card drivers, make sure they're up to date.
