I am currently in the market for a new motherboard using a VIA chipset. Because of this, I am wondering when the new VIA KT400 is coming out, and what new features it will have in comparison to the KT333. Can someone tell me?

well there is a fair amount of speculation that the kt400 wont even come to fruition...

for starters there is no word on if PC3200 (DDR400) ram will ever become a JDEC standard.

secondly the performance gains will be pretty minimal, much like the kt266a -> kt333 as the FSB will still be 266, negating most of the performance benefits of the PC3200 ram.

feature wise it will be better than the KT333.
expected to have AGP 8X, the improved northbridge to southbridge vlink 553Mb/sec, full USB2.0 and a few other odds and ends.

of course it will be a nice unit for overclockers should it ever arrive, as it will allow people to us unlocked CPU's at 200FSB & ram. :)
