trouble with outlook express

My Husband and I are both set up with user accounts. We have XP pro. When I
log off so he can go and log on to his "part of the computer" , his email
just does not work properly. It seems like this is a recent occurrence.
When he begins to type, there is a delay between the typing and the words
appearing. It often freezes . The strangest thing is when he is typing and
text starts inserting itself-we have no idea where it is coming from either.
We have Norton internet security 2004 and I scan weekly and keep virus
definitions updated so do not believe it could be a virus.
When he logs off and I go to my outlook express, all is well. It works
normally. He does not have his account in my outlook and I don't have my
account in his. In his option box, I switched him to plain text to see if
that would help.
I hate to reinstall Outlook as mine works fine.
Hoping to get some help.

The clue might be here - "The strangest thing is when he is typing and
text starts inserting itself-we have no idea where it is coming from
either. "

Do you have a microphone? Try switching it off and all should be well.
If not, post back.

Dear Kath,
Well so far so good! We totally unplugged the microphone and so far his
email is working normally! Thanks so much, hopefully it will continue this
way!
Thanks!
