Plextor as Secondary Master

Hi, I'm hoping you guys can help me...

I have the MSI KT3 Ultra ARU, and I'm having trouble with my Plextor 8/4/32 burner. When I connect the burner to Primary Slave or Secondary Master, windows refuses to load. I've tried setting it to CD-ROM in the bios, but that doesn't help. Any ideas?

Here is my setup:

MSI KT3 Ultra ARU with bios v5.3
AMD XP1800
512mb ram
Maxtor 80GB (RAID 0, IDE 3 master)
IBM 60GB (RAID 0, IDE 4 master)
IBM 40GB (RAID 0, IDE 4 slave)
Pioneer DVD 16X (IDE 1 master)

Boot Sequence:

1st - Floppy
2nd - DVD-ROM
3rd - 1st raid array
try other devices - yes

Double check your jumpers. Then treble check em.

Strange RAID array you have. No matter.

Double check all the settings for your IDE 1 & 2 dexs are at auto.
Do an auto-detect in the BIOS for all IDE 1 & 2 devices.

Should do it.

I've double and triple checked my jumper settings.. all I did was take the cd/dvd drives from my old computer and plugged them into the new mobo...

This is a fresh install of windows btw... windows xp loads when I have the dvd drive only. If I plug in the burner, it goes to a black screen after it searches for a bootable cd...

Change the boot order to HDD first. Eliminate that possibility. If it still does it, can you get far enough to get a safe mode boot?
