I'm amazed to see how many A7V333 problems surfaced lately, It may be due to the popularity of the board but I'm asking myself if ASUS really tested their board before relasing it.

1- Having the 16-1 pin gameport connector ( that was supplied with the motherboard ) connected to the motherboard somehow cause POST problems, reported as "System Failed CPU Test" by the ASUS voice reporter ( a chirpy female voice that come out of your audio system if you plug it in the motherboard green audio connector )

2- Using the ASUS Live Update to flash BIOS versions prior to 1005 will fail and corrupt your BIOS and waste your board.

3- Setting the correct Vcore voltage is a real pain. There's an undocumented jumper that automatically set your Vcore to 2.11V ( located north of the socket and west of the voltage regulator output jumper set ) I had to find out by trial and error how to set the correct voltage to feed my Duron 1GHz. I finally figured out that I had to set the VID 1-4 manually to 1.7/1.675 volts in order to get 1.75. The default setting keeps the Vcore to 1.8v even if you set it otherwise in the BIOS ( the VID1-4 default setting is not documented in the User's manual ) so does the 1.75/1.725v setting which still lock it 1.8v

Here is how to get 1.75v Vcore

VID4==*
VID3==*
VID2***
VID1***

I'm sure there are more issues with this board, feel free to add those you know to this short list...

THE PRICE!!!
over here in oz the prices are rediculously high.

most other kt333 chipsets go for between $200 and $300 dollars, depending on brand and if raid is attached, the average for a raid board being $240-$250. but the asus goes for at least $310, and thats the NON raid version! RAID equipped is often above $350! YIKES.

dont think much of the board layout either.
cpu too close to the ramslots.
overclocking options limited.

I have been buying ASUS boards for years now and was planning on getting the A7V333. But then I heard that the form factor was a little "off". I also did not like the looks of the layout. I opted for the MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and I am realy glad I did.

I've been lucky enough to get the RAID version of the A7V333 for the price of the non-RAID version ( 260$ CAN ). I first bought the non-RAID board and returned it because of the BIOS flash issue with ASUS Live Update software. The hardware store investigated the issue and agreed to get me a new one for free, no questions asked, they had some kind of problem when they ordered the replacement, and gave me the RAID board instead =)
