what kind of bench mark were u expecting? ive got an older athlon 1.4 512mb ddr and 64mb ati radeon and mine was only 3950. were u expecting double ur old system?

update your drivers to the latest for your ATI card. and did you do a clean install when you swapped motherboards?

what are you asking exactly?
is the score you got too low...too high or what?
to me...your score seems ok (maybe slightly lower)...but they're good scores no doubt.

<b><font color=red>ATI</font color=red>'s drivers are like a broken faucet, they both keep on leaking...</b>

Sturm , you only got a BENCHMARK of 3,000 or so. Dude I'm sorry that's really low considering what you have.

I was getting in the 6,000 with an AMD tbird 978, 512 pc-133, and Radeon 8500. No offence but that's really LOW

I don't know how you get that high.
I got P3 850 384MB PC100 GF3 ti200 overclocked to better than a ti500.

I only get 5200.

Well, for starters:

your running PC-100 RAM
only 384Meg and a 850

I had a AMD 978
512 PC-133 RAM
and ATI Radeon 32 DDR (Radeon 7200)
not to mention Asus A7V KT-133 MOBO (Best OVERCLOCKING BOARD)
and the score was 5,000+
and now I am Running
Asus A7V333
512 DDR
AMD 1900+ 1.6ghz
ATI Radeon 8500 64MEG
and getting 8,000+

Congrats Metal,
Sounds like you're not doing too badly. Esp as you're using WinME. I've got a setup probably similar to sturm (btw i agree he's scoring way low). TB 1.4G@1.47Ghz 512M DRR. I just got an OEM R8500LE 128M. Problem was I had trouble w/ drivers and i had to use an old reference driver. Still scored 7575. Should be better after some tweaking.

a score in the 8000's sounds about right for the setup you have.. as always a fresh install of windows helps and if i were you i'd ditch windows me. i managed a peak of 8023 3dmark which i havent been able to reach since and that was on an a7m266 with 256 meg ddr2100, xp1800 @1700(or there abouts) ibm 120gxp and a gf3ti200 overclocked to 220/490.. a usual score for my uncloked system is about 7600. but it has dropped as low as 7000.
depending on the drivers i use i could expect to gain or lose around 700 3dmark points. and when using 98 the chipset drivers actually lost me near to 1000 points.
changing from a board with the sis chipset to a 266 to an amd761 also ranged in 400/500 point differences.
i'm using xp now and scores are always alittle lower than what i got using 98, still i wouldnt now go back.,

YOU MUST BE KIDDING !!!

I had a AMD 978

not to mention Asus A7V KT-133 MOBO (Best OVERCLOCKING BOARD)
and the score was 6,000+

AMD 1900+ 1.6ghz
ATI Radeon 64meg DDR
and getting 8,000+
Best Madonion <b> 3dMark2001 </b> score <b> Athlon<1000 & Radeon DDR</b> = <font color=red>4000</font color=red>.
Best Madonion <b> 3dMark2001</b> score <b> any XP(1750) & Radeon DDR </b> = <font color=red>5500</font color=red>.

And those are probably <b> 64MB</b> Radeons

And you say that you got >6000 with Athlon @ 978 & Radeon 32 DDR
and >8000 with AMD 1900+ 1.6ghz & Radeon 64meg DDR !!!

Even in <b> 3dMark2000</b> , for Athlon 1000 & Radeon there are only <font color=red>7</font color=red> above <font color=red> 6100</font color=red> - just <font color=green>13 </font color=green> above <font color=green>6000</font color=green>.

And the best score for XP & Radeon is <font color=red>7900</font color=red> with 2nd best around <font color=green>6300</font color=green>

Why don't you post a link to your Madonion Scores?
Maybe cause you are talking out of your ass.

I think it's just a typographical error.

In his first post Metal143 said he has a Radeon 8500 not a Radeon DDR.

as far as the beench marks go i may only have had 3950 but everything i run is smooth unreal tournament and other high 3d games have no problems. i dont overclock or anything else but standard settings. no offense but im not a speed freak. my friends 800 mhz dell with 384mb ram and 32 mb pci radeon only got 1650. and i agree getting numbers over 7000 and up does seem way too high.

Granted for the XP-64 Radeon-8500

But the main thing is his bragging about <b>Athlon 978-Radeon 32 = 6000+ </b> and laughing at sturm's 3000:

Sturm , you only got a BENCHMARK of 3,000 or so. Dude I'm sorry that's really low considering what you have.

Ahh! You're right. Sorry for doubting. 6000 isn't possible for a Radeon DDR and a 978mhz Tbird, not with 3DMark2001 SE.

Sorry, I didn't notice that Metal143 was taunting you. Besides, your real score 3950 is a far cry from the 3000 he was belittling. 3950 is great score for a Radeon DDR when not overclocking!

I now agree. We need to see posted scores from Metal143.

I have also have a friend with Radeon PCI and also a 800mhz P3 system. The video card overheated when we tried to run 3DMark2001. Nasty smell but the card survived. I moved some PCI cards around to give it better ventilation. Can't remember for sure what it finally scored but I think it was 1800. Maybe it was lower. (I think I posted it here somewhere). The Radeon PCI is pretty bad but it was miles ahead of the onboard i810e graphics.

I would like to seize the opportunity of this discussion and ask you guys about a similar problem that I´m facing. I just bought a Athlon XP 1800 System with the following specifications: XP 1800 / 256 DDR2100 (running on CL2 mode) / Soyo Dragon Plus MainBoard / SB Live! / Seagate Barracuda 40 GB and a GeForce 2MX400 and I only got 1500 points on 3d Mark 2001. Is such a low result due to my Graphic Board which is already outdated or there is something wrong with my system? Could it be because of the version of the 3dMark Software? The version I download,as it is shareware, does not run all benchmarks. Furthermore, some of the tests are skipped during the testing process, due to the lack of hardware support (according to the message that I got). ANY IDEAS?

As a remark, I ran Sandra Sissoft 2001 and the results (memory bench, processor bench, etc) were just normal.

Only 1500 points, yes, something is wrong. You probably need to load the chipset drivers or at least the AGP driver for that motherboard.

If you have a Via chipset you need the 4-in-1 drivers. 4.38 is the latest official version. Get it <A HREF="http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2" target="_new">here</A>

the thing you have to remmeber is that a lot of people "fake" their scores in madonion. I met one guy who had a 1700+ motherboard with a GeForce 3 Ti200 that scored over 1200. It ended up he really had a dual Athlon 2100+ with a GeForce 4 4600. go figure =\

Well I get 10000+ without any overclocking

But I did spend quite a lot of dough for it....
I have:
Asus A7V333 RAID
Athlon XP 2000+
256Mb Corsair PC2700
LeadTek Geforce 4 Ti4600
OS: Win98SE

I just wish games had graphics as pretty as some of the stuff in the benchmarks.

Ok Then.... Here's a (kind of) unrelated question....
What's the WORST score anyone's ever had (at the default settings) on 3dMark2001SE?

I only asked because I ran it out of curiosity on my MD's new Athlon 1300 Laptop, and it scored something like <font color=red>353</font color=red> LOL. Anyone better (?) that one?!

(That "S3 Graphics Twister" <i>stunning</i>!)
