Does anyone on this forum have any real knowledge (i.e. not every solution ending with "format and reinstall" )?

Of course they do, look at enough threads and you'll see some very knowledgeable people who post regularly.

The point is of course, that it often takes less time to format and reinstall (even multiple times) than it does to isolate and solve the problem (if the solution is even feasible).

[sarcasm]Oh, I'm real sorry I can't give LEVEL 3 ADMIN quality advice when all the poster tells us is that his friend's comp is getting BSOD and kernel errors.

Please, please O LEVEL 3 ADMIN, enlighten us with your diagnosis, so that we might escape the darkness of ignorance that has engulfed us on this forum![/sarcasm]

I really didn't mean that post to come out as a negative response. The only problem I have is when I join a pc help forum and the only responses I see are "yeah, get a life" (http://forumz.tomshardware.com/software/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=43798#43798) or telling someone to Format and Reinstall when all they needed to do was extract an original file.

Please excuse my "bigheadedness" if it came out that way. I just truely get frustrated when that's the only solution offered.
