I have a radeon x800 pro and a 17 inch crt. I was just wondering what the best resolution and hertz for games like guildwars and cod2 to play on was.

which ever one gives the smoothest frame rates with you prefered detail levels.

I always prefer details before resolution. If I can play it @ high but with 800*600... Then i do that. Exept for on line games, then low-mid with 1280*960 and MAYBE some AA, so i can see my enemies
But i still have to upgrade my G6600

As Strange says play at whatever res and detail level that gives u the best frames.

For a CRT I'd stick with 1024*768 and work on the detail level from there for the smoothest rates, 800*600 is just too low a res for a first person shooter..

My main reason for replying though is put the Hz as high as your monitor will go. 75Hz should be obtainable, it has no performance impact but will stop you going crazy from the flickering you get at lower hertz.
