game.dat problem with battle for middle earth 2

i recently installed on my computer a commercially sold battle for middle earth2. when i try to skirmish or do both the campaigns it goes untill i'm about to play then kicks me off to the desktop then it gives me an error message thatsays it has encountered a problem with game.dat file. I tried reinstalling it but that doesn' work.
