Slowness when print

I have a Celeron 850MHz, with Asus CUSI-FX motherboard, 128MB, HD 15GB, Windows Millenium with Office SB 2000 and HP Deskjet 640C.
When I print a Word document, all the other functions become slow, for example, Media player with Audio CD stop playing sometimes.
I think it is related with Asus Motherboard.
Is there any configuration that can solve this problem ?

is the parallel port set up as EPP or ECP? Maybe it's trying to to 2 way comms and is timing out?

I´ve already tried parallel port config with 3 different ways: Normal, EPP, ECP+EPP with no success.

that happend to me on my 98 machine, thats just because it just got too buggy. it happens to the best of them.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal
