Sometimes I have the impression that some sites are slightly in favor of one or another product. Could this be due to more than a personal inclination?

Van takes a look at some bordeline practices among hardware sites:

Ahahahahah. Thank you for the laugh. Van's Hardware is by far known as the most biased of all of them. For him to actually do an article on this is one of the most hypocritical things I have heard in quite a while. Van Smith hates Intel with a passion. He seems to have some kind of personal vendetta. His analyses are usually very flawed and laced with blatant manipulations of the truth.

While Van does provide some occasionally useful information, I have to agree with you Ray, that he seems to have a disliking of Intel and their products. I've noticed from time to time that some of the conclusions he makes in articles seem a bit...odd.

Then again, some of the articles he's written have contained some usedful info. I guess, like most tech sites, some commentaries and conclusions need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Then again, Vans is a periphery site I think and not really in the mainstream. Also, he doesn't hide his bias. I think that's what his article/editorial was getting at; If you are biased admit it. Don't claim neutrality when you are actually biased.

Ahh well.

to the the "personal inclination?" level I was ok, but when I read the last line I burst out laughing.

Johan wrote conclusively that Rambus RDRAM was more bandwidth efficient than DDR SDRAM. I informed him of his mistakes, but I do not think he ever recanted his position even though it is now painfully clear to every informed observer how short-sighted his pronouncements were. In fact, using his own methodology, DDR-SDRAM is clearly superior to RDRAM as we, among others, have shown.

Did he just say what I think he did?

DDR is more Bandwidth efficient then RDRAM??? Doesn’t RDRAM blow DDR away in any memory streaming benchmark? Am I reading this wrong or it this guy full of it. DDR only excels on random access benchmarks, anything streaming RDRAM ownz!

Thx & Cya

Oh no... don't get started with DDR vs RDRAM here... That's for the memory forum... and that's why I stay here

Head on over, it'll be interesting.

As for Van Smith...well, I've shared my views of him before.

Reply to Grizely1

Why, because you don't like Rambus and you're sick of all the proof that RDRAM is better?

no, I'd rather have RDRAM than normal DDR.

i hate it because of all the idiots and morons that argue and know nothing, people like AMDMeltdown and bowser and such.

“Better” used by itself is such an ambiguous word. RDRAM is better at some things, DDR at other. The jury is still out on which will have the most potential in the future.

Thx & Cya

Better overall in a P4 system, which is the only possible way to mean it, IMO.

RDRAM is the better technology, Rambus has just been dragging their feet to make it better.

It's a shame that another company or consortium didn't develope RDRAM. IMO Rambus should be a Law Firm instead of a Tech Company. Why? They're good at screwing the little guy.
