For two months I have been trying to get my HP Color LaserJet 1600 to work with RTM 32 bit Windows 7. I cannot get it to install.
I have tried downloading the drivers for Vista via HP's website with no luck. I even tried a step-by-step how-to guide from HP how to install HP Color LaserJet 1600 on Windows 7. There information is not available on there own site (I have no idea why).
I have tried to install the printer using the original disk (this worked with the RC Windows 7), but nothing is working.
Also, I have tried to let Windows search for drivers online, and nothing.
Can someone please tell me what I can do to get this printer working?
If the Vista drivers supplied from HP as well as the drivers available with Windows 7 do not work with the printer, you are out of luck. HP is known for this kind of 'hard wired' driver issue. I would look at Canon.

I had the same issue with my HP's (laserjets 1020 and 3700n). Try this: Download either the x32 drivers for Vista or XP (the non-plug and play). Install the drivers manually through "add a printer" in the control panel. Select the drivers you installed and you should be good to go, in theory. Like I said, if the Vista drivers do not work, try the XP drivers next.
