No sound in windows 7

i have an Intel motherboard model d865glc and i have installed windows 7 but i have no sound and i cant get any updates for the sound either i have soundmax integrated audio card but its not recognized and i also put in a soundblaster 5.1 sound card in but that isn't recognized either what can i do to get sound??? help help help

did you disable the on board sound in BIOS when you tried the plug in cards?
