wen i press to get the @ symbol the " symbol appears and
vice versa...is there a patch i can download to get rid
of this?

Goto `Start`, `Control Panel` then `Regional and Language` and check you are
on the correct regional settings. You will proberly find it is set to a
different region.

You have most likely got your Keyboard settings to American. Change them to
english UK.
p.s. In your curren setup if you press " you will get the @ sign

To cure this you need go into the keyboard settings in
the control panel. Change your settings to ENglsih
(british) and the keys will be reversed

You are brilliant! I had the same problem, but I had my keyboard on Australian settings, and had to revert it to American settings....
Considering my pc is a MEDION, it could be understandable.
But thanx heaps guys!
