anyone? list some games (doesnt have to be freeware) that would run on most computers/

you could try hitting free oldies or Freeloader.
you might need a dos emulator or something if you pick out a REALLY old game...

one of our favorites at lan parties is scorched 3d. Fun game
Also wolfenstein is a free multiplayer game, search for it.

actually, if anyone reading this knows of a good DOS emu, link me up, I fancy playing C&C...
:D

EDIT:

you should try TASpring. looks pretty decent. I'm not sure if it works without the TA disks, but i think it does. it's just that to play it legally you need the disks...

Ah, been there and done that. I would recommend the demo's of Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party. The shareware version of Pocket Tanks from BlitWise is ok, but the deluxe version is better and there are free weapon expansion packs you can download. Grand Theft Auto 2 is also a great LAN game, and you can download it for free. My mates also enjoyed playing a little racing game from Hewlett-Packard (I doubt you knew they made games!), but I can't find the link for that any more.

To bad 100mb is your limit. (cant you share your files very fast on a lan, wich is faster then a usb stick?). Because if the limit was bigger you could try wolfenstein: enemy territory, its free and fun :D

Is that the Gloom(Q2mod) rip-off?

why not just play c&c w/o an emulator? I have the win95 version that runs fine in compatability mode in winXP. (look in the properties of the installer/launcher and make sure compatability is set to win 95 or 98)

Check OpenArena. Its a good mulitplayer first person shooter, which has Lan. Sort of like Unreal tournament 2. Really fun and fast paced game.
Will work on any hardware IMHO.
Although, it is more than 100mbs, it's worth checking out.
