You have togo to http://www.promise.com and install the promise drivers.

IF IT AIN'T BROKE...........DAM IT, MAKE IT FASTER!!!

ok... at work now so I can't actually install the drivers, but... the promise site seems to clearly say that the drivers are not for embedded Promise controllers on MB's. That being said, I understand that is just a way of not getting into a support black hole on something the OEM is supposed to support. So I would load the drivers off their site if I could figure out which one worked with the Asus A7v133. I did get the promise drivers off the asus site before i posted this thread. And tried to install (I think it was build 33) The Promise Controller under Raid and SCSI is installed and working fine. In fact, I don't have any visable issues with the system other than Device manager saying it has a problem. But in my experience, I would like to get that resolved before it causes other issues...

Can you shed any light on what drivers work? I am running Bios 1008a if I remember correctly. There is a 1009 for 48 HDD, but I did not flash that one...

more... I found the 2.0 Raid Promise Drivers on the ASUS site. Encouraging in that they say "XP". I will try to load them and see what happens.

Again, anybody with any real experience in this regard is welcomed to reply. I will check the thread before I do anything...

Are you using RAID? Because this driver can only be used when RAID is set up, and I believe this driver is for newer Promise drivers of KT266 and later mobos.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Resolved... Deinstalled the Promise Drivers, put the Drive on the IDE. I let XP find and install the Promise drivers. It did not install the IDE bus driver I was having trouble with. Life is good. No device conflicts.
