COD3, not coming out for PC

Support for COD2 sucked @$$. I have too many bad memories of waiting for the mapping tool and punkbuster to be released for that game to even consider getting COD3. That game had better come out with PB installed or else it'll be COD2 all over again. Also i think it kinda has to come out for the PC. Xbox360 and PS3 will sell, but thier sales will not surpass PC sales in gross amounts sold (gross amount sold since Xbox360/PS3 games are about $20 more expensive than PC games). And the PC gaming community is much larger than the console COD series community. It'll be a shot to the foot if Activision/Infinity Ward think they can utterly dismiss the PC in favor of the consoles for the COD series.

I really wish they'd go modern warfare soon. I mean WW2 titles are ok but i've been played those themed games since Medal of Honor. I haven't seen a really really good modern warfare type game since BF2. And BF2 is different because of it's play style. I'm hoping IW pushes development on it's planned modern warfare game and gives it the same amazing look and feel of COD2.

Topic title is a bit misleading. Just because it hasn't been confirmed doesn't mean it's not coming out. Honestly, how dumb would it be to leave out COD for the PC.

From a development standpoint going console only will be much easier. Taking COD2 for example, much more content was created for the Xbox360 version than the PC. Besides one patch and 2 new maps, COD2 for the PC has been lacking content. Yet for PC gamers, we have the tools to create our own content with the Radiant mapping tool. For consoles, all IW has to focus on is map packs, which they released for COD2's 360 version and minor server updates. The PC is too broad because the player base is much larger and more advanced time consuming content has to be created for it such as mapping tools, mod tools and anti-cheat programs (Punkbuster). For consoles it's "what ya see is what ya play" basically. Small servers with small player limit caps, think a server can have a max of 8 or 16 on 360. Release a few map packs here and there and basically provide them the content at thier own time table instead of having to side develop PC specific content. If they do release COD3 for only consoles it would be a great slap to the face. But since Activision and Infinity Ward entered into the darkside with Microsoft we just very well may see the COD franchise future titles be console exclusive for 360 and PS3. It's a dark thought but it just very well happen.

personally i don't know why they wouldn't come out with a pc title. If they don't, they are loosing the majority of their fanbase. Not only would i not buy a new console to play the game, i would avoid all titles by the developer completely. it would be just a lost cause for me to continue with a company who doesn't care about the computer gamer market.

Just thought I'd add a quick comment here. I too just realized that COD3 is a console only launch. For all us COD pc gaming fans...we really need not worry. If you look closely (I'm pretty sure) all of the console COD games have been by 3rd party developers and NOT Infinity Ward and they all have been pretty cruddy. All reviews were relatively weak. My guess is that Infinity will have a next generation COD up in running after the console launch. Unfortunately gaming is becoming like the insurance industry...it's all about the $ . Gamespot has a good article on COD3 and what to expect for the pc. Don’t have the link though.

I stopped playing COD2 about 6 months ago (new job) and have recently taken it up again. The game has been greatly enhanced and there are some really good servers out there that take cheating very seriously. I’m more partial to “realism” servers.

There have been talks with the developer of COD and COD2, there plan is to not make an expansion anymore for COD2 and they will not release COD3 for PC. Instead they have turned there, I beleive 60 person developing crew, sights on making COD 4 for PC and it will be a modern day warfare game. They are trying to make the COD series like the Battlefield series.
