USB ports not working

I am running a ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe (rev 1.04) motherboard and I am having difficulty using the USB ports. When I install windows and the the drivers that come with the motherboard, all 6 of my USB ports have an "Unkown Devise" error. Upon installing the nVidia USB 2.0 2.1.2.1 Enhanced USB Controller I get an error message on the USB Root Hub when I attempt to unpdate the Root Hub drivers my computer grinds to a halt. Although the drivers install my computer runs extremely slow (there is even mouse lag). When I delete the root hub drivers my computer returns to normal speed.

How many USB port you have enabled, and how many do you actually use/need?

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

I have 6 USB ports however I can't enable any as I can't get the USB Root Hub to work properly. I only need to use one of the ports.
