MY  sys : Intel P4 3000 , 1024 ram dual ch , and i have a Gf 4 4600 TITANIUM .........
When i enter the game options , video , and the resolution is 640x480 ..
when i want to change it the max res of the game is 1024x768 !!!
With my ati radeon 9200 card was 1280x1024 !!!

Update your drivers, this may help.  
 
Or just keep it @1024*768 and enable some AA
