Please help!

All I get is the light on the board when I plug it in. When it hit the switch, nothing.

What all should I check?

Remove everything except vid card, RAM and CPU/HSF

Reseat Vid card and RAM

clear CMOS

See if it will POST. Also try with just one stick of RAM (if the 512 is 2x256. If not, you can't do that).

Report back.

Ok, turns out the CPU fan was plugged into the wrong slot.

That you for your help.

Now, how do I get it to boot off the CD-ROM drive? I get Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter.

Any ideas?

My primary master is my 80 gig western digital. It says my CD-ROM is my secondary slave.

This is my first computer that I'm building from scratch.

do you have a secondary master? If not, you definitely need one. Make the CD secondary master instead of secondary slave. Also make sure the BIOS is set to boot from CD-ROM 2nd, after floppy.

I've also just bought an ASUS A7V333 and I have some other problem with the RAID controller:

I always have to wait for ages for the RAID controller POST to finish - wether I have disks connected to it or not.

I tried it with an activated RAID controller without disks, with an activated RAID controller with an IBM disk on each IDE slot (both mastered) - it always took about 15-20 seconds until they were recognized which imho is a huge lot compared to the ~4 seconds of motherboard POST.

Has anyone else had these problems?

thanks in advance

I didn't have any problems with the RAID controller. I just installed the OS on another computer. It booted up fine and detected both my CD-RW/DVD drives.

In Boot Menu (BIOS), choose your CD-ROM as first boot.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

yeah, i know there's a jumper. but i soon will want to use the raid feature of the motherboard and i wonder if it's just normal that i have to wait a lot more than ten seconds for the raid post to finish... every mobo manufacturer is trying to shorten the post process - and then a raid post of a quarter MINUTE?! i cannot believe that...
