I know this has been posted before but i've looked.... and looked and had no joy. Here goes, when i go to shut down my computer, it doesn't... instead i get the XP logo and a message saying 'its now safe to turn off your computer' but to turn off my computer from this screen i have to press the reset button and then hold down the power button... strange???? maybe. It didn't used to do this only since i re-installed windows, me being a budding newbie i've been messing around with all my bios settings, i know i've changed something so my computer doesn't reconise the ACPI thingie or whatever it is. i've tried updating the computer driver in device manager but the only driver it lets me use is the Standard PC. PLEASE help

I haven't failed... I've found a million ways that don't work

If you can't switch from standard PC to ACPI, I'd do a reinstall making sure ACPI was enabled in the BIOS prior.
