Trying to run the updates from Microsloth. I open IE, check for
updates and then select the ones I need. They download ok, but when
they try to install I get a blue screen of death. However, the screen
goes by too fast to read anything, and then the system reboots.
Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

Start/run eventvwr.msc, see if there are any clues in the system and
application logs.

Locate the Windows Update.log under the %windir%, open it and scroll to the
bottom. Look for error codes and post back with them or research them here:

Nothing here that seemed to relate to updates.

I see the word success several time in the log. Could it be that the
updates are working, and the restarting the computer? If so that
would indicate the blue screen is related to another problem.
Sigh....

Hi,

The updates shouldn't cause a blue screen, but I suspect the actual cause is
a program not terminating properly. Try terminating excess processes before
updating.

If you click on this link http://www.connectionwizard.comoj.com/ and go to my malware removal section, there is detailed instructions that will help you. just click on the instructions link. the software is totally free and very easy instructions on using it. Everyone needs to get all the microsoft updates before the worm hits. Microsoft updates has a patch so you won't get it. I hear it's a bad one too. Tell your friends about this site when you are done. The site is currently under construction but I do have all the links for the software up and starting the instructions, now so be patient. Instructions for the first one are already in there.
