More Information

Finally I got the money to upgrade my system. Sheesh, it's quite complicated now with all the chipset and memory battle going on. I'm confused. P4 looks really nice option over AMD XP, so that's what I'm going to get. I've found that 1.6a Northwood is really mean overclocker, so yep, there is my processor. As for platform for this .. Well, dozens of choices .. So far this is what I've come up with:

DDR Solution:
ASUS P4S533 -- SiS645DX seems to be the best choice for DDR chipset now. VIA P4X333 looks terrific but not sure how long I would have to wait for these boards. Very nice looking board, except that it lacks possibility to lock PCI/AGP bus speed. Should support DDR400 speeds without much hassle. Strong competitor for RDRAM with that kind of bandwith and smaller latency.

EPOX 4BDA2+
Looks like a very delicious overclocker platform. Old i845 chipset ain't the fastest out there but rock solid. Option to lock PCI bus is nice. I've red that this one should be able to handle DDR400 as well, plus it offers wide variety of other neat overclocking features.

RDRAM solution:
ABIT TH7-II
Rather old board and I'm not really convinced if it can keep up with the new i850e boards. Very neat overclock features.

ASUS P4T533-C
Maybe the only new i850e based board avaible here. Seems like shoddy overclocker and it's like 100$ more expensive than the DDR boards, or even TH7.

Right now I'm really tempted to buy one 512 stick of PC2700 Samsung DDR and EpoX 4BDA2+. Dunno really. Very hard to make this decision so any help is highly appreciated :)
