My problem is similar to the log-on problem of madrussian (a few posts down) except in my case I boot quickly to the desktop but there is a 1 minute delay before anything will respond. In the 'msconfig' menue I have everything disabled under startup but under services there are 75 enabled (all microsoft). I am unsure which I need to leave enabled as awhile back I started disabling some of them and I ran into quite a few problems. Any input would be appreciated. This is a 2 month old computer (I made) with a fresh install of XP Home+service Pk 1.

If you haven't already. You may be surprised with the crap that gets on your machine.

Yeah, there are way too many possible reasons for this situation. You don't say if this was gradual or a sudden slow-down...

Try removing the Registry key mentioned under "<A HREF="http://www.iamnotageek.com/articles.php?aid=10&page=8" target="_new">Share browsing speedup</A>". This has been effective for many users.
