What board for 1.6A or 2.26b?

I am utterly confused about which way to go especially with regards to memory. I am planning on putting together either a 2.26B or 1.6A, and I will probably attempt some overclocking but I am just unsure of which way to go.

These are the best three scenerios
ABit BD7 or BD7II or IT7 + P4 1.6A at 2.4GHz with DDR 400. The RAM will run at 400MHz, the FSB at 150MHz (600MHz), and the CPU at 2.4GHz.

Asus P4S533, Samsung PC2700 DDR, and P41.6A @ 2.4GHz. The RAM will run at either 375MHz or 450MHz (preferrably the latter if the RAM can handle it),and the FSB will be 150MHz (600MHz effective) and the processor will be at 2.4GHz

ABit TH7-II, Samsung PC800, P4 1.6A @ 2.4GHz, RAM at PC900, FSB at 150MHz (600MHz effective) and processor at 2.4GHz.


Of those three configuarations, the first will be the easiest to get to, will be the cheapest and will, most likely, be the fastest (if you don't count the 450MHz that <i>might</i> be possible on the P4S533).

Well Newegg has the Samsung pc2700 in stock, but it is ddr333. Does Samsung make ddr400 yet? I have heard true samsung is the way to go as far as memory, would you agree?

Also if I am reading correctly the differance between the BD7 and BD7II is the compatablitity with the 533 and the onboard audio and lan. Did I miss anything? And if I remember the IT7 is legacy free correct?

Wow with all this reading some of it actually sunk in...:)
One last question I think, how difficult is it to overclock with the BD7II? I just don't know how much I would feel comfortable attempting any non software mods.

It's as easy as pie, because you don't need any physical mods. Just raise the voltage for the memory and vcore a tiny bit and, set the FSB to 150MHz, lock the PCI/AGP and set the 3:4 memory ratio and you're DONE! All through the BIOS! A 2 min job!

Beat board? Proabably the Iwill P4R533-N, supports PC1066 RDRAM for superior performance to all DDR SDRAM boards, easy voltage changes to 1.85v for overclocking, a great performing solid board. Pair that up with a P4 1.8A and overclock to 133MHz FSB for 2400MHz, or even try 150MHz FSB for 2700MHz if the CPU can take the stress.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
