I've got a Dell PII 400mhz laptop with 6gb HD that's running linux mandrake 9.2. I want Windows XP on it instead. Can I install XP? Would I be better off with Win2000 instead? How would clear linux off and install Windows?
XP is very MEMORY hungry ... 128mb will be very slow .. 256mb will be just enuff for normal app ,, 512mb would be ok .. 1gb for comfort.
Window 2000 would be a better bet..
If you have NOTHING you need to backup OUT of linux, you can just use the window XP/2000 cd and clear the partition then recreate one under NTFS or FAT32 and install it there.
Just boot the cd,install it... then when asked to choose partition to install it on, clear it.. and recreate it.
