TG Daily Video: Game technology trains soldiers on missiles, remote gun

While much of the games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo are played for fun, the U.S. Army has adapted game technology to help train soldiers. The engine from the America's Army video came has been integrated into the Javelin missile training system and the Common Remotely Operated Weapons System (CROWS), which a remote controlled gun being installed on newer Humvees. Hey, I play this game on a regular basis as well. I'm a poor college student, so I can't afford to buy the latest games like CS (and I don't use/download warez), so I play this free game.
It's pretty good, actually, better than some of the games that cost $25 or more.

What handle do you play under and what server are you usally on?? I play under the same name, sTiCk_E_mOuSe, and usally play in the HomeLAN west servers. Maybe we catch each other in a game sometime...

i can hardly believe you cant afford counter strike. you can get half life for 15 bucks, then you just need to download the cs addon.

i bought a copy when it was 10 bucks, and a word of advice, its the same shipping cost for up to 3 games, so you can get a freind who wants to buy a game from them too and you can split the shipping.

steam is still in beta but you can download it from a number of sites and it doesnt require an installation of cs or hl

I've been playing this game too, but I can't figure out how to get my honor up. I shot one of my guys by accident and it dropped to 8 and I can't play any maps now that are official since you need at least 9.

It's a great game though.

Everyone should be like the Dutch. They're perfect.

Honour is awarded based on a points system. Your score on "official" servers (+ or-) is submitted and your honor gooes up or down. From 8-19 honor points it takes 1000 points to go up a level 20 to 39 you need 2500. To get your honor back go to the "pratice maps" and play until you can get to 9.

That's the thing. I got bumped down to 7 since the only practice board is in the dark and I suck. It seems awful hard to get 1000 points to get another honor point vs losing points for accidently hitting your own people.

I love the bridge level and want to play on an official server again.

Create a new account and redo the basic training then you'll be back online.I mostly play the Pipeline Map. Here's a big tip (it took me a while to figure this out at first): Enemies don't have helmets or backpacks on. That should make it easier for ya to identify friendlies.

I've gotten a much better handle of the game. Honor is 15 now and my username is dhlucke if you ever see me on there. I'm pretty much always on the bridge level at official servers.

Couple of tricks...when playing the dark map, change all of your video options to full...meening, change gamma, contrast and such to the far right...you can then see clearly in the dark and don't need your nightvision...
From 0-10, you need 1000 honor points, from 20-30, 2000, from 30-40, 3000...and so on. Friendlies have a backpack and are wearing camouflage...enemies have a standard dark green (only) uniform...and are usually shooting at you! hehe...I'm Furious_L on the servers...I'm up to 21 (almost 22) honor!

You can always cheat. Memory scanners work with the game. Personally, I just cheat whenever I create a new profile for someone, but when I first got the game I went through all the steps and earned my sniper badge

I love the bridge map too, I play it almost exclusively. Maybe I'll see you online.

I think you need like a 36 or 37 out of 40 to qualify for sniper. It's been getting really hard with each newer version releasd. If you can get a copy of a 1.0 or 1.1 version, it should be real easy.
Pointers:
-time your shots to your breathing
-shoot either at end of exhale, or end of inhale
-i find the the M16 tends to coil upward and to the right...so just aim slightly down to left (target's right armpit)
-if you can't get it, forget it....203 is the only way to go anyways =)

I'm still using 1.6 because I hear 1.7 has lots of bugs, even more than 1.6. Like you cannot pick up your team's wepon. What do you think of it?

Upgrade to version 1.7 man. Especially if you like the Bridge map. There's a new bridge map in 1.7. It's true you can't pick up friendly weapons in 1.7 because of a bug but...it does make it more realistic somewhat.

How do i use the sniper rifles in the game, I've Compleated the 2 Advanced Marksmanship Training Courses, but can't figure out how to use them in an actual game, like the Insurgent Camp map. It Says unavilable in the Class or weapon select Screen.

Fact of the matter is this, I'm a college student studying to be a software developer/programmer. So I know how it feels to have my own products get used illegally after I've working on it for so hard and for so long. Some maps don't allow you to use the sniper rifle. I'm not sure whether or not the Insurgent Camp does. Also, if the map is not filled by players, like if there is only 5 vs 5, the sniper rifle and m203 won't be available. Only the basic weapons are usable when there isn't a lot of people playing.

I'm pretty much always on the original bridge map. I just pick squad leader, call out e's and play a mean d from the north hill. Very fun game to just chill with. When I'm not caring too much about points I'll go A. It's tough to get a good team together for a though.

LOL! Yeah, I remember running version 1.5 and trying to qualify for sniper. I must've tried 50 times, at least! I got so ticked off I downloaded an older version 1.1 or 1.2 from <A HREF="http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=army_download" target="_new">Nvidia</A>. One try on the older version and I got a perfect 40/40 =). I just uploaded my profile and reinstalled the latest version - voila, sniper rifle!!! =)

You're right about assult in the bridge map. But even though it's hard to find a good team, I like being in assult.

I got version 1.2.1. Damn kazaa was trying to pawn it off as BF1942, but I got it. Is the only difference that the targets are brighter?

No, I didn't notice anything about brighter targets. It just seemed way easier to hit the targets. My guess is that people in the earlier versions were qualifying for sniper so easily that the DEVs tweaked the game with each new release.

Oh,some more tips:
-In the game control settings, set the mouse movement/sensitivity to 1.
-Only use ONE bullet per target - always. If you miss a target, just let it go, don't waste ammo.
