I would say Unreal Tournament 2004 entertained me the best on the PC (with HL2 a close second, followed by Warcraft III: TFT, Starcraft, and Diablo II: LoD). Chrono Trigger owned the SNES, while Tales of Symphonia was my favorite GameCube game.
I'll give you one from every console (or at least the decent ones):
NES: Volleyball (yes....just volleyball...that's the title.....addictive)
SNES: Super Mario RPG (loved that game with a passion)
Genesis: Eternal Champions (this old-school fighting game w/ "fatalities"...i loved it)
Saturn (yes, I had a Saturn): Panzer Dragoon (classic classic classic)
3DO (yes, pops made a BIG mistake being me and my brother this one): Super Street Fighter blah blah blah (Akuma's first apperance, got owned by him every time)
Dreamcast: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (the best 'port of the best fighting game I've played recently)
Gamecube: Tales Of Symphonia (extremely underrated, addictive, and a breath of fresh air into the RPG scene, BUY IT!!!)
PS1: Parappa the rapper (when you find yourself singing Master Chop Chop Onion's song during class, you know you're hooked)
PS2: Guitar Hero (i know it's recent, but me and my buddies can't stop playing this game....it's like crack, except non-edible)
XBox: Halo ('nuff said)
XBox 360: Oblivion (addictive, immersive, crazy)
PC: Oregon Trail (just kidding)----> WoW (i see why there's a debate about video game addiction)
On computers I go all the way back to an Apple II+ (dating myself a bit, eh?) to the ORIGINAL Wolfenstein game. More fun than a barrel of schweinhunds...
I loved the Bonk series on the TurboGrafx system - cool headbutt attacks, and he could climb walls by chewing his way up them - kooky but loads of fun. Early Sonic games on the Sega too - way cool.
More recent PC games - Starcraft, Diablo I and II, and WoW have been my biggest time sinks, with Call of Duty, Max Payne, NOLF, and Far Cry as favorite shooters. I also loved a strange Mac game called Dark Castle from the late 80's - massive platforming goodness with great sound.
Never played on the PC, but I did hate those bats. I loved the sound those trolls made, and the lovely squish when you hit them with a rock. I lost many hours to that game
