I considerer the trend of including
FSB, multiplier, etc on Bios a good trend.

On exception of the cpu core voltage setting,
I think this one should be a dip switch or jumper setting.

Why?
I have assambled a sistem with a 1.3 core voltage setting
(downclocked AMD)
soyo k7ada motherboard
very cool sistem, no cpu fan.
dip switch vcore setting.
:)

Rejected another much finer bios seteable motherboards
because I am afraid that on the event of
automatic bios reset my cpu/motherboard
could be fried.

After much reading rejected intel 815 options too.
because I understand they can only be speed tweaked
adjusting the FSB.

Are these my mental limitations real?

Any commentary welcomed.

Why would you downclock your CPU, just to keep it cool??? What kind of CPU do you use? I´m using a 1.3GHz Duron (XP stepping) on 1.45v, it´s not downclocked, I´m not using a fan either, and it´s still very cool.

I don´t have that problem, the voltage going up if BIOS is cleared, cause my CPU is at 1.45 at default!!!)
I had a cool sig. ready, but my dog ate it!
