FEAR and Farcry not working help please!

I have installed FEAR and FarCry and the games don not work. It gives me an error:

szAppName: Fearexe sz AppVer: 1.0.0.0. sz ModName:Hungapp
sz ModVer:0000 offset 000 000 00
The same for Far cry
After that I have installed the demo for Fear extracton point and the same error
I looked at the settings in Fear configuration utility and tried different settings
to eliminate the problem and when disabled the sound the game and the demo worked but without the sound it sucks!
My version of FEAR is 1.00.
Far Cry has the latest update
Before I had a KV8pro mobo from Abit and now I have an Ga K8nProSli.
Before it worked great now with the new rig doesn't.
Wath could it be?

I think FEAR is one of the games that was nailed by the Microsoft security update KB917422 in August/September. If you have this update installed and think you can live without it, uninstall it and try again.

Sounds to me like that's your problem. If you're using your M/Bs onboard sound chip make sure you have the latest drivers - the CD that came with the board might have ancient drivers on it.
