I just wanted a stable & fast mobo for serious gaming.

AMD Athlon 2100+
Maxtor 60GB 7200 ATA 133
King Max 512 Mb PC2100
Gigabyte Radeon 8500 (AP64DH)
...

I've placed all that on a GA-7VRXP and i was happy only until i tried a 3D shooter. Frozen. I gave the Radeon to a friend (mobo DFI AD70 SR), he said the card worked out fine.It took two weeks and lots of crashes to realize that the

GYGABYTE GA-7VRXP : One of the best

was crap.I got myself an ASUS A7V333. Not much different, i had DDR problems after three weeks. It had lots of onboard features (more things likely to break down, i think related PCI cards are better), so i'm about to change it.

I haven't tried the Soltek yet. Doesn't have onboard USB 2.0 or RAID(better for me), but has thermal protection,(means a lot) and good overclocking. (THG says so)

Anyway, does anybody out there have one ? Is it stable ? Is it crap ? Or is it the answer to my prayers ?

The Abit AT7 looks like it's gonna take off! Lots and lots of integrated stuff, but no thermal protection. I've seen a thermal death (Athlon TB 1,3 on a MSI kt133a mobo) and it wasn't pretty. When the proc goes into the afterlife he usually takes the mobo along and that's a wallet black hole.

Anyway only the ASUS and the Soltek have protection and i've already tried the ASUS. So i have no choice.

I had the same probs with the Gigabyte, sent it back.
Bought the Asus AV7333 and so far it has been rock solid.

I was going to go for the Soltek, but I didnt like the lay out so much, the board power is poorly placed meaning I would have had to have run a chunk of cables down past the CPU HS/Fan. Not ideal when you are trying to cool it.

But that is just a personal preference thing.

I've just heard about the ASUS A7S333 ,seems to be an A7V333 with a SiS chipset without RAID or USB 2.0. And it HAS thermal protection. I'll have to look into it.

Soltek 75DRV5 is a great board price and perfomance cant be beat. I'm an avid ASUS fan I have 2 A7V333 MB's and am happy. But just had a friend talk me into buying a Purple Ray Motherboard. I was skeptical at first but hooked it up ran like a Champ never crashes and overclocks like a monster. Here's my specs:
Soltek 75SLDRV5 KT333
OCZ 3200 DDR400 512mb
PNY Geforce TI 4400 128MB
AMD 1800 overclocked to 2200 and never crashes
Alpha Pal 6035 heatsink with Delta Fan
40 gig Maxtor ATA133
HELC 350 watt PSupply
Soundblaster live Gamer 5.1

Remember though everything that goes into building your rig is important for stability. Power supply blah blah blah all must be AMD approved this will limit your problems with hardware and such. It does make a difference.
