cut and past from my post in the mobo section...

well here is the list of things required for the PERFECT overclockable motherboard.

Physical things:

1. Red or black in colour
2. ATX form
3. Clean socket area, free from capacitors. manditory 4 mobo holes and clean socket allows mounting of mcx-462 or alpha pal 8045 heatsinks.
3. Clean AGP slot, no capacitors or cables in the way of long AGP cards.
4. AGP pro + locking mechanism would be nice.
5. Triple phase power mofsets manditory
6. Power connector up the top of the mobo.
7. 6 PCI slots, no AMR or CNR
8. At least 3 DDR ram slots
9. ATA133
10. Onboard ATA133 RAID 0, 1, 0+1
11. All IDE connectors grouped at the top of the board.
12. As few jumpers as possible, and jumpers in easy to reach positions.
13. Dual bios
14. Boot error reporting LED
15. XP internal temp monitoring and bios emergency shutoff (as in the A7V333)
16. Northbridge with a DECENT cooler. i.e. 1 inch high HS with >40mm fan desired. (or just a large passive HS)
17. More than 3 monitored fan Headers (cpu fan, northbridge, and at least 1 casefan)

Bios Options:
1. go back to previous working settings should boot fail.
2. Full manipulation of all RAM timings, including extreemly hard settings i.e. 1.5T
3. FSB to 200mhz in 1mhz increments.
4. full range of multipliers
5. softFSB changing within windows (see leadtek winfast 7350KDA)
6. Full range of 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and 1/6 PCI dividers, !OR! dividers selectable independent of the FSB OR completely FSB independent PCI/AGP speeds (as in some P4 mobo's).
7. CPU core voltage fully selectable to and BEYOND 1.85v. i..e up to 2.1 or 2.2.
8. AGP and DDR voltages bios selectable

Other things that would be nice but arnt strictly required:
1. Firewire
2. Blootooth
3. Onboard quality sound. i.e. NOT AC97
4. 4 x USB 2.0 onboard
5. Onboard LAN

anything ive forgotten?
and % chance someone will ever make a motherboard with half these options?

Hmmm let me guess what model motherboard you have.
How many PCI slots do you have?

<font color=red><i>Doctor Hooter</i></font color=red> <A HREF="http://www.page3.com/" target="_new"><b>(·Y·)</b></A>

Reply to zpyrd

that would be cool to have 2000000000000000 pci slots and get every single device ever made for PCI.

I have a microATX motherboard (<A HREF="http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/md/index.htm?iid=ipp_dlc_deskmb+p4pmb_d850md&" target="_new">Intel D850MDL</A> ) and I use all three pci slots.
The first slot has a Promise ATA100 controller card.
The second slot has a Soundblaster Audigy MP3 card.
The third slot has an AOpen 56k modem. It has never been used because I have ADSL service. Sort of an Insurance back up if my ADSL service is interupted. Which has never happened thanks to Bell Canada for having the best DSL service in the world.
