Unfortunately, it's not always that obvious. It should be on the same half of the motherboard as the CPU but not always close to it. It's a smallish chip about 5/8 of an inch long and 3/8 inch wide . To match SoftFSB's default choices for the clock generator (oscillator) it would have to be a PhaseLink, IMI, C-Media, ICS, IC-Works, REALTEK, or Winbond chip.
When you said "Whitney" did you mean the motherboard has an Intel 810e "Whitney" chipset?
