Ha you can cry if you really want to, common just let it all out.

Really unless you have been looking at kiddie porn what the hell are you all making a fuss about. I have got the game and I don’t give to flying ‘you know what’ if they can see where my IE browser has been or not. All they will find is eBay, game sites & a shed load of porn. But that said, your all making it out to be the worst-case scenario where they can see everything about you.

From what I have heard it is nothing as bad as you lot are saying. Defiantly not enough to warrant going on a strike and spitting in the faces of EA staff members for. Hell it’s not like it’s the first thing to spy on your PC, about 20% of software on your PC will be able to report back to the developer in some shape or form. Even Photo Shop does.

I would chill out till the details are made clear and stop spamming this all over this forum, go to the EA forum and spam them! You will have more chance of things getting changed then.

You can think about it what you want (just like illuminatirex) but complaining about it here, is not considered spam.

Trying to bully others into not voicing their opinion on whatever they like (within the bounds of the TOS) is not appreciated (and yes I know you're not bullying, you're just voicing your opinion  ).

Paradox 8O

It's just that he has voiced the same opinion on about 5 different threads instead of solving the problem at hand. But I guess your right, freedom of speech and all that…

i did not complain as much on the ads as on the data mining, i know that some software reports back, but they do not ususaly give the company so much information, besides i dont think a game which has ads in it should be worth the "ful" retail price, most of todays software if it comes with adds, is usualy either shareware, freeware, or some form of trial software, which upon purchase dissapears(the ads that is), as in the case of bf2142 the ads, and data mining remain throughout the life of the software.

I guess that’s how they can offer every back dated Battle Field game, including 2 for free and the game with a 33% discount on top of that if you buy it off there online service… You would not see me doing this though as it takes about 10 hours to download sod all off there crappy little service that goes at about 128K even though I have a 1280K internet connection!

ever hear of firewalls and dll authorization? Whenever anything tries to dial out I KNOW ABOUT IT. I paid for my internet connection and I AM going to use it not some BS company out to track my every movement and send me spam. And i dont even visit pron sites either!

The thing is no matter how hard you try or how many firewalls you put in from of your PC and the Internet your still going to get something escaping. I just thought why even bother with all this, it’s not like it’s going to come back and effect me. In the end so what if some company see what websites I visit, it’s not like I get any spam or anything sent over email because of it. I don’t even use a virus scanner or firewall at all, as I find that they simply slow down my PC with out any real benefits.

Maybe I am just too laid back on all these kind of things, but I figured this philosophy has done me good for about 8 years now so why change. It’s not like I don’t care about these things being on my PC, it’s just that I don’t care much. A virus scan once ever couple of months and a spy ware scan here and there is more than enough to keep my PC clean.

Besides unless spy ware effects my performance in some way that is detectable then there is really no point in worrying since after all out of sight out of mind.

i have to admit that i guess its just you(ok maby there other people) that do not care much about their "data" but lets say consider this You(or anyone else) works on something important to him/her, and worked on a "project" of some sort for a long time, every chance he/she got, and one day its just all gone, the hd doesnt respond, or the files are deleted, or some other thing caused by an "atacker" or a virus caused this, wouldnt u be frustrated out of ur mind? wouldnt this make you reconsider a bit ur "security"? i mean there are those that value his/her privacy and those that do not bother to even "try" to protect himselfe/herselfe, i gues it all depends on caracter, and what we value.

ill never buy another product from them, ever

http://www.megagames.com/news/html/pc/eausingfpsspyware.shtml

its a sad day indeed when retail games come with ads and spyware EA games has really done it this time they have become the AOL of gameing software.

so what if they offer the old bf 2 at a discount most people that play it allready have it not that the discount on an old game sitting in the bargin bin on amazon.com is going to justify spyware.

Thing is you don’t get viruses by doing nothing, you have to do something dodgy to get a virus on your PC in the first place. I seem to always get them whenever I go on the hunt for no CD cracks or such, but I have never got a virus by simply using it sensibly. As for all my important work… that goes on a 4GB memory stick, I have more chance of that breaking than I do of loosing all the data to a virus.

But anyway as long as you’re careful you will never need an AV program crippling your PC to about half the normal operating speed.

I do agrie that the av slowes down the pc a bit, the i feel a bit "safer" with it. and besidesi use the my flash drive on other pc's (not thinking i got the one without that write lock) and just in case its beter to check the flash drives before uding it on my pc, just in case something might have "taggled along" on it.

When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.

hmm, imagine the distration in game if you look at pron alot, what will you be doing trying to shoot your opposition or looking at that nice add EA have put there?

anyway i completly disagree with this approach, i dont want adds in my game, neither do i want a background process slowing down my pc i think ill buy the game then download a cracked version that removes this ability from the game allowing me to put my own photos inplace of the adds.
