newly build...
P4 1.8A @ 2.4
P4S533
Samsung PC2700
WD100JB 8mb
dvd 106S
win2k pro/ntfs

windows and other apps are running smooth but games i.e. NFL 2002 are loading very very slow, slower then on my P3/550.
any potential problem? Planning to instal dual boot with win98se on second HD, perhaps this would help....

any idea what could be wrong?

It sounds as though you are teetering on the verge of a crash. I too have a P4S533 with Corsair XMS PC3200 RAM. I can only set the cpu/memory frequency to Auto or 1:1 with any kind of stability. I would recommend the same and hope a BIOS upgrade will be available soon. I am running a dual boot with Win2k and WinMe and indeed WinMe is more stable.

To start press any key. Where's the "any" key? --Homer Simpson.

just changed back to stock speeds and it seems to be just slightly better but still slow.
The problem is that this is the only game than I have for win2k. need to buy another to test it. Any recom. reg. good benchmark game for win2k?
I think I will put it back on 133/35 and 1:1 ratio. It seems to work well @ 2.4
shall I even touch ram voltage or vcore voltage in bios?
