Ok, apologies if this is a stupid question.

We recently ordered a PC with an "Intel Core 2 Duo E6300" CPU, we intend to use this for gaming. Since only newer games have Dual Core support, what kind of performance will we see with older games?

Since the E6300 is 1.8ghz per core, will we find games running as if its just a single 1.8ghz CPU or what?

Any info or advice appreciated!

Well since a 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo is about the same performance as a 4 Ghz dual core processor I would say you should experience speeds similar to a 4 Ghz single core processor.

Which is to say plenty fast enough for any "older" games you might want to play on it.
