I'm putting together a new Intel P4 system and I picked up an EPoX 4G4A+ motherboard designed for the P4. The thing is, there's no ATX12V connector on the board. Intel says that this connection is required for the proper operation of the CPU. How important is this, really? Will the system run safely without it?

ahhh .. if Intel says it's required it probably won't even boot without it.

Just buy a pentium 4 PSU. They arn't that expensive.

Some MB Manufacturers are handling this internally somehow. I noticed Asus was making P4 boards with not atx power connector on the board.
