I just bought an Asus A7V333 MB with RAID. I do not want to use two hard drives but would like to use the RAID primary for my HD and the Pri IDE for my burner and the Sec IDE for my DVD. My idea is to get better performance with each on its own channel. Any thoughts on if this will work or even necessary? Thanks

I have this mobo. I have the setup of which you speak. I wanted each cd drive to have its own port to avoid crosstalk but do not think that a cd drive will use up the bandwidth of an IDE cable. This will indeed work but you will have to live with a slightly longer boot up time (scanning by the promise utility) but other than that I don't see any slow down. I'm not a master on this topics but I do have a setup that works for me. peace.
