I installed WinXP to drive 1 and Fedora to drive 2.

I installed GRUB to the MBR.

When GRUB tries to boot WinXP, it just hangs.

When I boot with the recovery console and do fixmbr and fixboot, I get error loading
operating system.

Ny next plan is to try using a Win98SE bootdisk and doing fdisk /mbr.

Anyone else have any ideas?

first thing to do is to burn Linux and never use it again LOL (just kidding)

the best bet IMO is fixing the MBR with the windows disk. failing this you can re-install over the top of a current XP install and most if not all of your files will be fine (given that you choose the correct option when installing)

note that any of these will actually disable Grub, so you will need to create a linux boot disk.
