I installed my new pc yesterday, but the GeForce 3 was broken, so I used the TNT2 card from an older pc. But, the system didn´t go past POST, just a black screen.
When I installed a PCI 8Mb card, I would get visuals and I could boot normally. Could it be that I have to flash my BIOS or is my AGP slot broken? The TNT2 worked in the old computer.
The system is an Athlon XP 1700+ (stock speed), Abit kr7a kt266 mobo, 256Mb DDR RAM CL 2.0, 40Gb hdd, SoundBlaster 128 PCI, and a cd-rom and floppy drive.
I did not install the VIA 4in1 drivers... maybe that could be the problem.
Thanks for your reply,
Baztian

How long did you wait before deciding to try the PCI video card?
I have two systems built on the board, one I see the video card bios while on the other, I don't and I have to wait a few seconds.
The 4in1 won't affect the POST, only when the operating system.
In the bios, try setting the AGP slot to a 2X instead of a 4X, which uses a lower voltage. At the time of the TNT2 was when companies began switching from 2X AGP to 4X, and there are a lot of 2X TNT2 cards out there.
Yes, the 2x option was already active and the only option from which I could choose from... there wasn´t any 4x mode available. Should I flash my BIOS to version 9N?
What do you mean you installed your new pc? Are you saying you built a new system, or just made some upgrades?
When you installed the OS, what video card did you have in the system. And just when did you start having the problem during your venture?
